music research

Powerful Orchestra Score.mp3 download
This soundtrack is one we considered as it has the eery start we are looking for in the beginning and it builds tension also with many different parts building which could lead to major points in the trailer, also with the genre of the trailer we  can see that the trailer which is thriller it builds into that with a massive music dip and rise which helps create tension but also creates a more action based feeling towards the trailer.
This soundtrack is the one we chose overall as it had the right amount of tension and it also has a very fast paced middle element which helps to build the tension further and it also brings the action scenes to life.
 War Trailer Intro A.mp3 download
We also discussed using this music for a trailer as it has a very action filled section which would be perfect for part of our trailer, but there are two reasons for this track not being picked for the trailer, the first reason being that it doesn't have the tenacious feel that the two mentioned before it do, the other reason for this track not being picked is that it is only 36 seconds which isn't long enough for our trailer.
War Trailer Intro B.mp3 download
This track was also considered as it has a good building theme throughout and would be good if there wasn't anything else to pick, however there are two reasons that it hasn't been picked to go in our trailer, one is that it is only really something we could use in the beginning of the trailer and it doesn't have the fast paced part of the trailer needed. The other reason that it has not been picked is that it was 34 seconds long therefore doesn't fit our trailer.

Overall the 2nd music track was picked as it brings everything we need it has the fast pace and the tense feeling throughout, the other tracks where in close contention but they didn't have certain things we needed. If this track didn't exist I would maybe try include the two smaller tracks to make one larger track as they blend together quite well.

Script for trailer

Narrator: The definition of fear...   an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm.

Look at this man being threatened on this bridge... He is in fear of this bully ... nobody wants to intervene as they are fearful of what will happen ...  I am not ( cuts from black and white to colour)

Bully's are not all bad people... they bully due to the circumstance... drugs.. money .. but some bully because they can... Stu Daniels is one of these people .... He needs to be changed ( Phone Call )

(Short dialogue between Stu and Narrator e.g. mystery antagonist)

The Story board is quite a basic outline of our trailer but it gets across the main points. My group wanted to add more advanced things such as an introduction shot and production credits. This will make our trailer much better and make it seem like a more realistic attempt at a movie trailer. In our trailer we have used a variety of different shots that  enhance the trailer using many different media techniques.

zoolander trailer

The pace of editing is used to highlight the action scenes and make it seem different from the previous film and therefore attract different audiences, it is also edited to make it look like Ben Stiller's character is a hero who can save the day even though he is a comedic character.
We found out that the characters in the last film have now become lesser characters in their universe, also that the characters although they haven't moved on the world has. The plot of the movie is revealed that all the good looking have been getting killed therefore Interpol need the two main characters help in stopping the killer.
The trailer tries to appeal to a new audience by including by including new stars in the film like Penelope Cruz who plays a new character in the film, but also people like Justin Bieber who plays himself in the film therefore it attracts the people who like him.
The trailer tries to attract pre-existing audiences as well by focusing on the p[re-existing characters, they bring back the villain from the first film as he is a big part of pulling all the audience in. Another way the film attracts audiences
The music is used to make the trailer seem much more based around the action and this is used to highlight the action parts of the film. Also the music in the trailer is used to highlight funny moments which highlights the comedic genre in the film.
The moments which are meant to be most memorable are the seen with the reveal of Penelope Cruz as one of the new characters, Also the scene where the main villain from the last film is revealed to be the villain in this film is a memorable seen as he is wearing a big strong body suit and he takes this of which is both funny and memorable. Another memorable seen is the scene at the very end of the trailer as the two main characters, are trying to train and things are thrown at one character by the other this is also one of the funnier moments in the trailer.

From the questionnaire data, we can see that people like to see the same sort of big name actors of thrillers, Liam Neeson is a name that came up as one who even relate the genre with this actor. From the questionnaire we can tell that the younger audience mostly likes action thriller which in relation to our film this shows that if we wanted to attract the younger demographic then we should add more action in our trailer, from a directory point of view the type of actor people think off when they think thriller film is Christopher Nolan, this shows us that the director Christopher Nolan has something that makes his name and his films memorable therefore we should try and add elements of his directing into our trailer therefore we should watch his films and see what he is doing differently. Also when asking some people we found out that people enjoy a romantic element in the film but the majority said they don't and would rather see a psychological element this means they would like it to challenge the way they think about the characters and the way they think about the story line in a whole. However to find more conclusive evidence we would have to ask a wider age range to see the exact type of thriller film they would like to see.

Trailer Analysis

The first shot we see is an medium shot of the two main characters, from this shot the mise-en-scene shows us that these characters are well dressed which could mean wealth or intelligence, We also see a helicopter in the background which reinforces the wealth but could also connote feelings of action or danger in the film. We then see a shot reverse shot between the two main characters, through this type of editing we can see the confusion between the characters and therefore the audience can tell there will be comedic moments in the film. We then see a montage of action shots but it has the blend of comedy in it to show the comedy-action mix in the genre.
The editing is made to show the transition of one of the characters from the weak small frightened character to the controlling cool character, this is shown through the small action shots and continuing to go back to the character.
The sound in the trailer starts with the up beat music which shows the comedic side of the characters and then it transitions to the tense action style music, then goes back to the up beat music accompanied by one of the characters dancing and singing which is another part of the comedic element.
The editing helps to advertise the film by using the characters names as a way for the story to be told, this is shown when a credit says that 'you need some Hart' the spelling is wrong as a way to advertise the film as the big pull star in the film is Kevin Hart therefore it will bring in a wider audience, it also does this with the other big name actor in the film of Dwayne Johnson is also used in the same way, the quote is 'a big Johnson' this is also comedic as both of these are jokes both playing on the actors names, but one is also a joke.
Another way the film advertises itself is by having a twitter handle where people can talk about the film and the learn more things about the film. it also has a release date therefore it gives the audience  something to look forward too.

mood board

The location of the film is around London and the picture shows one of the background elements we use therefore it creates a mood of familiarity to people who know anything about London know about the London eye. With the hooded figure we create the mood of both fear and mystery as we don't know who the character is. The picture of the good and bad connected also link in with this as we don't know weather this character is good or bad. I believe that all great thriller films have this struggle of good and bad and with the good guys using elements of the bad to beat the bad guys. The picture of the chess pieces shows that there could be something more going on as one character who we may think to be a big boss type may just be a pawn for someone a lot bigger this could help lead into another trailer. The picture of the man threatening another shows that the film will have some sort of conflict and this ties in with the hooded figure as it creates a dark and mysterious mood.

war of the worlds trailer analysis

The establishing shots at the beginning of the trailer are quite interesting and from them we know that the film is set in the city of New York this creates a feeling of familiarity as the audience knows where New York is and therefore they recognize it and for worldwide audiences as it is a place a lot of people want to go and therefore they can identify with the location.

Tom Cruise's character is a major feature of the trailer and we find out that he is a father in this film and this creates a feeling of empathy in the audience as people don't want his character or the characters kids to get hurt as  the audience empathizes with a family as they may be in one. As things begin to happen in the trailer we always hope that the family is OK as one member is a small girl and this creates a protective feeling in the audience. As the other child is a teenage boy that creates a feeling of sympathy with people who are also teenage boys as they will sympathies with his situation.

There is a really interesting shot that stands out for me and that is the close up of Cruise where his character speaks to camera.  This makes it feel as if he is talking to us the audience watching the trailer therefore giving us the feeling that he is talking to us therefore it is a direct mode of address therefore we keep focused on Tom Cruise's character. This shot is also used in a cross cut as he is talking to his daughter and she is in a low angle therefore showing her vulnerability and he is shown in a low angle to show his control and authority in the situation and that he may be able to beat what is coming. This also shows us that he is very serious and may be in trouble therefore creating worry as we can see other things going on around him and he is a likable character in the trailer.

The use of music in this trailer is quite effective and builds tension.  We can hear at first the peaceful and calm tones showing us that everything is OK and the characters we see a good characters as they aren't accompanied by dark and sinister music, but this music also builds tension as the audience know that this wont last and it gets a little more tension as it continues. the music drastically changes in the background as the narrative changes, when we start to see the earthquakes and the lightning hits it helps establish that this is a major plot point.

The director of this film is Spielberg and he is a unique selling point because of his reputation for making successful big budget films.  This is communicated to the target audience when mid action montage a credit comes up with his name and this shows that the audience need to know that Spielberg had a major role in this film, and it is in the middle of the action montage to show that it is a big budget film.

There is some interesting fast paced editing used when we see the destruction of the city therefore showing us that whatever is coming is much more dangerous than first thought. we also see the army fighting something this shows that there is something big coming therefore they know that Tom Cruise's character is in big trouble.

You can tell that this film is a science-fiction film because in the trailer we see lightning hitting in the same place and many things happening which are not able to explain by the technology we have. We also see large tentacle monsters which are thought to be aliens but both are big science fiction staples.

trailer analysis now you see me 2

The trailer starts with a rotating pan, mid shot of the main characters this establishes who this story is about. We then see a montage of mid shots which creates a feeling of excitement as we want to know how all these exciting scenes want to end. The trailers editing is very fast paced which plays on the action side of the film, we also see some comedic elements as there are elements which are comedic. The music which accompanies the trailer shows that the film is light hearted but it builds tension as the action montage builds to show the importance of the last shot. There is also a voice over which helps to tell the story, the voice over is used to create a tense background to the scene and it also helps to build the story from the last film. Overall the narrative is kept secret but the big reveal at the end shows that new characters are going to be added therefore creating an enigma code for the audience. The film advertises itself by offering a website and three different types of social media.

trailer analysis

The first shots we see are of massive landscapes which show us that this world is vast. We can tell this film is a fantasy because of the next establishing shot of a castle which doesn't look human built also we see a giant bird bigger than any real bird this shows that the film plays on the fantasy element a lot. we then see many establishing shots and a mid shot of a through the use of a mid-shot we can see this characters emotion is really worried and scared. We then see some Birdseye view shots of a destroyed town this shows us the magnitude of the attack then we see a montage of clips of monsters killing soldiers and another character seeing the death these monsters leave behind this creates a feeling of worry and the need to pick sides as they don't want to see the humans continue to be killed by these monsters. the shots that are very interesting are the medium shots of a character but in the foreground there is a dead solder's helmet therefore this shows us that this means a lot to the story. what is an interesting editing point is the choice of where to change the narrative, we see the monsters destroying and killing people then we see their side of the story which helps the audience to empathise with these characters therefore showing that they may not be the bad guys in the film. this then creates conflict in the audience as they will now want to know who's side they should be on. We then see a montage of shots of many different characters talking and we see a different side to the human characters therefore maybe creating even more conflict in the audience. This is juxtaposed  with many different action scenes this is a good editing choice as it shows that even though we have characters trying to avoid violence there still is violence. the target audience for this film is the age group between 13-21 this is obvious in the trailer as there is a lot of action which interests the younger audience of the bracket and more complex themes to interest the older bracket of the audience. The music in this trailer starts of slow and peaceful therefore showing the peace of the time but as it continues it gets more tense showing that something big is on its way and it ends with a faced paced action theme creating a feeling of excitement in the audience. what is said in the trailer is based around the war which seems to be coming and how some characters will do anything to avoid this war. The film is advertised at the end by showing a vague release date on June 2016 it also has a website which people can visit. Overall this film does tell a bit about the story but still leaves enigma codes in, for example is there a love interest between two characters is there a divide on both sides within the two groups.

location research

We filmed a part of our trailer on Westminster bridge as a way to create a familiarity with the audience also when picking this location we knew that the more international audiences as people from all of the world know about the houses of parliament and they are something people will notice in the trailer.

We chose to film at this location under the Churchill statue as it creates emotions in the audience as the UK audience don't want to see anything happen to this statue of the prime minster who lead England through the war.

We chose to use the pathway under the London eye as it is a well-known location and it can be familiarized to a worldwide audience.

trailer analysis hateful eight

The first thing we see is a few establishing shots of a snow covered land and this tells the audience that this landscape could be a factor in the film. We then see many different shots of a man walking up to a house and the another man falling to the floor this shows that this is an action scene as this is violence. we then see a montage of many different action backed shots which then lead to a close up of a character to show that he is a main character and that he is a joking character is he is laughing. we then see many different shots of all the characters in the film therefore this establishes the films characters without revealing the plot. when we see the montage of the characters we also see their nick names this is good editing as it shows the characters in a different light. the music in this trailer begins slow but builds to the end title this builds tension and shows the audience that the film will be very action based. We also hear a voice over for the start of the trailer this is a device used to help establish a characters mood or to help tell a story. this film advertises itself by saying how it is filmed in 70mm technology and it also uses its release date of Christmas as a way to advertise as it takes a christmas phrase and changes it for the films plot. From this trailer we cant tell much from the plot but we can tell that it is a small cast film.

Trailer analysis

This film starts with an over the shoulder establishing shot of a arena this shows that the film is going to be based around sports. We then see a low angle panning shot following a character this shot also tells us that this is an important character who we should focus on. We then see many different shots of the title character training this is a montage to show that there is a progression in the film of this characters skills. there is then a multi shot of a group of characters surrounding the main character this shows that this is an important discussion as they all need to be there. We then see a shot reverse shot of the two main characters in the film having an argument which emphasizes the fact that this is a drama. We then see a montage of the main character telling the same group of people about why he is doing what he has chosen to do. The music in the trailer shows us that this films is a drama as the music starts of tense but then it gets much more upbeat which shows that the character will overcome adversity and achieve what he has set out to achieve. The story is revealed to us as the story of legendary Olympic gold medalist Jesse Owens therefore it is based around a true story which many people already know. this film is advertised with a coming soon banner and the fact that is based around a true story.

Trailer analysis

In the beginning of the trailer we get told through credits that there is a experiment in Stamford university this shows the drama of the movie, we then see through slow cuts who the main characters are and what their roles will be in the film, we then see an over the shoulder shot of a man walking across many different landscapes this establishes the university as the main location. We see through what is being said, the people who said they wouldn't want to be guards in a prison have been made guards therefore this shows the contrast between them and the people who have been made prisoners. Through quick cuts we see the loss of control by the people running the experiment this then creates a fear in the audience this is a convention of thrillers. The music starts of tense but slow therefore it shows that something is going to happen but we don't know when. After one scene where the use of a multi shot shows an ultercation go wrong as the student being a guard breaks a rule and uses pjs oval punishment to sanction a prisoner. This is when the music builds up more pace an the quick snap shots of the bad things which follow after the ultercation. The trailer advertises itself by showing critic reviews. Overall in this trailer you can tell that the characters are going to be a big part of the story but even though there was a lot which went on there was no formal introduction to a character just unnamed interviews.

Quantum of solace trailer analysis

This trailer begins with a panning shot of a man walking across a dark corridor with a man speaking, this shows the audience that there will be dark elements to this film which may attract different people to see the film. The main shot type used in the trailer is mid shots and close ups these are used to show the emotions in the characters but also to set the scene and pace of the film. There is also a lot of very fast paced montages of different scenes giving prevalence to the action. We see many fast paced chance scenes which are made peeve last by the quick paced montages of them. The music for the trailer is the iconic James Bond music as it creates a feeling of anticipation in the audience as that music has been synonymous with the action thriller James Bond series, there is also a voice over conversation between two characters who we know one is James Bond and the other is a women who he sees as an authrotative figure this conversation show that there is a lot of emotion. Is what James Bond is doing therefore this shows the audience that they might see a new side to this chat get which they have grown up with. This film is advertised with the iconic 007 symbol as it is put into the release date, and there is also a website. From this trailer not much can be decified as to the story line therefore that will be released later.

Seven trailer analysis

the trailer begins whith an over the shoulder, mid shot of Brad Pitt looking slightly hurt but completely serious the use of the over the shoulder shot creates a feeling of curiosity as the audience wants to know who Brad Pit's character is talking too. This is a theme throughout the trailer the use of mid shots help to both set the scene and help to show the characters emotions, the use of close ups is also key in this trailer as it shows the emotion of the character therefore creating a thought in the audiences' mind of worry for the characters and intrigue as they want to know why it is happening. The trailer uses a lot of fast paced editing with quick shots used in a very quick montage to show things which may be key to the plot line. The music is very tense and if something is said or something needs to be seen then the music either amps up or it gets more fast paced, there are three voiceover in this trailer one helping to explain the story line and the other two is a conversation betwee. The two main characters this shows that these characters are key to the storyline. This film plays on the to star characters of Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt as this is a good way to advertise the film because people will go see this film because they are in it, another theme which is used to advertise the film is the use of face paced shots to make it seem that this film is almost a complete action film. What we learn from the trailer is the the two title characters are both at the opposite ends of their detective careers and then they have one murder case which needs both of them to solve it, what is also shown in the trailer is that the murder are all based around the seven deadly sins, this creates a feeling in the audience of how are the other five murders/sins going to be shown as we do see two of the murder/sins. This film is targeted at 18-35 year olds as it deals with mature themes but is also a crime thriller which means there will be lots of action.

Concussion trailer

In the opening scene we see an establishing shot of the Pittsburgh Steelers football stadium this shows us that the film is going to be based  around american football and in america. We then see a mid shot of two characters talking, then there is a small montage of the man overlooking a football team practicing then there is a brain scan this shows he is a doctor therefore this gives us a new respect for this character as doctors are usually very respected people, we also then see in this montage that he is a critical surgeon and this shows his intelligence. The music throughout the trailer is very tense and increases in volume this creates a feeling of real drama which is the genre of this film. From the trailer we can that the story is based on a true one and is about a doctor going against the norm and challenging the NFL which is a massive company in the US. This trailer is aimed at people in the age group of 25+ as it is a serious drama and most serious dramas are aimed at this age group as they may have had experienced the real life events this film is based upon.

Ransom trailer analysis

The trailer opens with a mid shot of the main character and all through the trailer we see lots of close ups of the main character and the supporting cast the shots are mostly close ups or mid-shot as a way to show the characters emotions. the pace of the trailer starts of slow as a way to show the danger that the main characters son is in and it help to build tension towards the relationships between the characters. the pace increases as the trailer goes on as the genre seems to change from a dramatic thriller to a action thriller as we see gun shots, chases and lots of pans across the landscapes. The narrative is a man who has been successful in life and his life is going well and this is completely flipped when his son is kidnapped and this then brings out an aggressive and dangerous side as he promises to kill the man who has kidnapped his son. One of main things which is said in the trailer which really shows the tone of the film as he threatens the kidnapper on national television this shows the darkness of the main character. We can also see the emotion from Renee Russo as she gets angry with the FBI agents. We are not shown much of the location as it is only hinted at with NYCPD on some of the police cars. We can also see how guns will play a big part in the film as there is a lot of guns used in the trailer. In the beginning we see Mel Gibson's character as a suppressed scared man but as the trailer continues we see the evolution as he turns into a strong threatening character.

spectre trailer analysis

In the trailer the opening shot is of a close up of Daniel Craig who plays Bond which shows us he is a key character.  There are also some interesting establishing shots of desert locations and snowy mountains which show the target audience that the film will be set in a range of different locations around the world and that the film will be epic and expensive. There is also a long shot of London with Big Ben in it which would appeal to a US audience, who need to buy into the film for it to be successful.  The pace of editing is very interesting and towards the end the pace really increases and there are lots of shots of things like helicopter chases and explosions in a fast paced montage which reflects the excitement in the film.  We don't find out very much about the film itself - we do see an antagonist and there is some conversation, in shot reverse shot, between Bond and him.  They want to kill each other and we don't know why - but we don't need to because there is already a very strong fanbase for the film.  James Bond's iconic pistol is shown and he is shown wearing a suit, which connotes success and wealth - which James Bond is associated with.  The music is very tense and dramatic and builds up to the theme tune for the franchise.  The film is advertised at the end with a release dater, hashtag and website address as the iconic theme plays.  A good trailer-although I would have liked to have found out more about the story.

Trailer analysis

The first thing we hear is two children saying happy fathers day to their dad. This is a common convention of one of the genres of this film which is horror. We then see a man with his family which connotes the feeling of worry in the audience as the audience don't want something bad to happen to the children, in this scene we see the happy family man this establishes what the norm should be. We then get some of the story told to us by the wife and kids as the father is unable to go on a family trip with them. We then get the first real sign that this is a thriller as the lighting changes and the the sound changes we see that it is a dark night and that it is raining this already builds suspense and then we have the sound of thunder this is a foreshadowing device uses to show that the man is about to get shocked or something bad is about to happen. We then see a few close up shots of the man looking worried in the low lit room this shows that he is in possible danger. We also see the mans dog bark, this shows that the animal knows something bad is about to happen. After this we see two girls waiting at the mans door, although would usually be seen as a good thing the music suggests that these two girls may be our antagonists. We see the nice side of the character as he lets the two girls in to use his phone, while he talks to the girls we see that the man is very trusting as he says that the girls don't look dangerous, this tells the audience that he is a character they should like as he is very trustworthy but also naive which is a characteristic most audiences like in a main character. We the see the darker sides to the girls as in a montage of shots we see them trying to seduce the man, this shows the audience through the use of shots and the what is being said that the man is in danger but they are still unsure of what they are doing. After the man is seduced we cut back to the morning with him laying in bed waking up to the girls laughing and playing in his house we also see the realization of what he has done, the fact that the man gave into the girls may lose him some female audiences as he cheats on his wife. We then see the man kick the girls out with the tensions getting higher as the music builds in the background. We then see the character again in the low lighting night scene, this shows that he is in danger still. In this shot we see the mans expressions change as he hears a diagetic noise outside. We then see the character go into another room in the house and find a picture of his family smashed on the ground as he goes to pick it up he gets hit over the head by one of the girls, the two girls then tease the man. We then see the directors name which may bring in fans of that directors work. This then shows the girls tying up the man, this shows us that he is in immediate danger. We then see a major chase going on between the girls and the man with the voice over of the girls saying how the man needs to be punished.

genre research

A thriller is a battle between the protagonist character and the antagonist, When something changes in the norm of life there is then lots of either events or things which have to happen to the protagonist to build up suspense, often we will see the antagonist as someone who is doing bad things and is getting away with the things they are doing. We often see the protagonist trying to fix these problems but still the antagonist will do everything to stop them. One convention that will be used is tenacious music, this music is usually accompanying a montage of shots which will emphasize the drama and importance on those scenes. The lighting will usually be low with lots of shadows as a way to emphasize certain characters darkness, often with newer thriller films the protagonist will have a dark side either to their personality or to their past. With the characters the protagonist is usually a brave man who will have some connection to the problems which are disturbing the social norms. The story line is usually based around making the audience feel that they could be the next person this could happen too. The shot types used mostly in thriller films are close ups or extreme close up these are used to show the audience what they should be feeling and how the character is feeling. Often the antagonist will be wearing dark clothes as a way to hide their identity.

This trailer is for a filmed called Steve Jobs, this film is a biographical drama. The first code we can see of this film  being a drama is the opening speech which is a voice over which is a common code of drama films. After the opening credits to the trailer we see a wide shot with a man in an office setting this shows us that the film is about this man and his struggle in the business world. We then see another wide shot of an audience hall with no one in it, this could leave an enigma of weather the business this man is setting up will fail or not. We then get introduced to a character we know will have prevalence in the movie as he dressed in a suit and is talking to another character with a very good vocabulary. We are also introduced to another character who doesn't hold as much prevalence as he isn't dressed as well or speak as well. We then hear a voice over of a woman and a man having a conversation about how many times the man has let her down. We then see this couple and the man is the poorly dressed man from the beginning conversation with the well dressed man but now he is very well dressed, this could show the transformation he has gone through on his journey or it could show his immediate success. We then see him walking into a room full of people who applaud him this shows his success and respect. We then find out his wealth as another women on the voice over as she explains that his stock in his company is worth 441 million dollars, this is then completely overshadowed by the thought that he is letting his child and her mother go on welfare as she says this the music changes to a more sad and slow tune, He then shouts at the women "shes not my daughter" this shows that he may be unable to have a proper conversation, he also seems a lot more scruffy now. This shows that as soon as problems arise he turns back to what we saw in the beginning of the trailer. We then see a montage of shots always going back to the main character with the music becoming very tense and building up to something important, most of the things being said to the main character are negative therefore showing him in a negative light. We also see the shot get smaller and smaller this is done in editing to create an even more intense scene, it closes in on the main character this is foreshadowing as it show the world closing in on him possibly meaning he is in danger or an aspect of his life is in danger. It then opens up again to the main character but he doesn't look the same this is meant to show his change for the worse over a certain amount of time. We then see lots of people cheering in a crowd and then the main character a child and the mother in the same room, She then challenges him and he lifts a computer which the child was using showing his and her trust that she let him lift away from what she as doing and he makes the point that the computer can be used by everyone even a child. We again then see the main character in a suit which even though his facial expressions are caught in the medium shot he is in trouble but still successful. We then see quick changing shots which shows his failure being evident. In the shots we hear that the main character is being fired and this then sends him into a rage as he believes he built the company, We then hear a women telling him that he should focus on his daughter. We then see him being challenged through a panel of shots by a women about what his plan is which he responds in a very calm and unworried way. We then get the actors come up on the screen which is an attraction for people as they draw in different crowds. This is then when we see the rise of this character again as is reintroduced to his company and people again applauding him this shows his success. We then see lots of close up shots of the main character with the voice over and this then shows the  character in a positive light before the trailer ends.

Poster analysis

This poster is for a film called pixels, the poster doesn't really tell us about what genre the film is. We can tell from this poster that there is a giant character in it 10 times the size of a city this could show danger or it could show comedy as this character is from an old video game. We can tell that this isn't a horror or thriller film as the lighting is bright and it is very colorful. This may lead the audience to believe it is a comedy. One pull factor for this film may be the fact that this old video game character is being used, this could bring in the older audience as they grew up with these games and would like to see how they are represented on the big screen. The title of the film is very prevalent as it links to the video game theme. Also the release date is left open just given the year and the a slogan relating back to the video game theme.

trailer analysis ride along 2

this trailer is for a comedy/action film called Ride along 2, it starts with an establishing of a city skyline and the first character we see is one of the main characters talking to a criminal asking him a question through the mise en scene we can see that this scene is in a dark alley showing that the characters we are following may be in danger and this could make the audience worried, we also see that even though the established audience know that this character is a police officer he doesn't dress like an ordinary police officer as he isn't wearing a uniform or wearing a suit. The first code of the action genre we see is a gun is pulled on a character. We then see the first sign of comedy, when another character comes in and emphasizes the stereotypes of criminals we see that he is the comic one of the the two main characters. He stumbles out of the comical car. When he enters the scene with the other characters we see that he is less experienced with this situation and he needs to learn which helps the audience as they like it in a comedy when a character is in an uncomfortable scene. We then see this character taunt the criminals and by doing this he reveals that he and his partner are police officers. This is where the scene takes another dip into the codes and conventions of an action film as there is then guns are drawn. The titles then role across, this shows that there is a big company behind the film which gives confidence to the audience. We then cut to the two main characters in the film in a car with another character who starts to wind up one of the characters which shows that this film will always comedy elements. We then see the comic character of the police partnership be talked to his fiance about a new character who is being introduced who is their wedding planner, this leads to another comedy moment as we see a confrontation between these characters which leads to a  main convention in comedy films which is slapstick comedy, the extractor fan hits the man in the head. Through editing a story is explained by another character who is giving prevalence through the fact that he keeps getting back too and that he is wearing a suit, as he explains to the main characters what they have to do we see that they are happy to be doing the mission which leads to different comedy moments involving the two, usually in a film where the two main characters are black there is a stereotype that all the black character must act a certain way but all these stereotypes are subverted as they both have respectable jobs and they have high status whoever they are with. We then see a montage of comedic scenes and action scenes as we see the characters are either having a funny conversation or being around guns. This continues throughout the trailer where we see more slapstick then we see a car chase with explosions, there is then credits showing the actors which may be a pull factor as people may go see the film because of the actors.
